As a tour guide at the Culinary Institute of America I hear lots of questions such as but not limited to; "Do you want to be on Food Network?", and "Are all chefs like that Chef Ramsay guy on TV?". However the one question or thought that is reoccurring throughout my days here at school is, "What do you eat? You must eat the best food!"
Well folks, I have some news for you......we eat just like "normal" people but with a twist! Yeah sure there are times where we have that delicious blue box Kraft Macaroni and Cheese but because we have some form of formal training we can spice it up make it a little more than ordinary if we so desire.
Sure we can make pasta from scratch or even make a delicious roast but however our diet is not all caviar, truffles, and gravlax. "But why?! You can get some of the best ingredients in the world if you want!" Again folks, we're real people and oh yeah, don't forget, we are in college!! Contrary to popular belief, college students are not Bill Gates.
No fear though y'all because when we want to eat that conceived eating lifestyle that many have thought up, we will save up and we will go out to eat at the newest restaurant or go explore the most iconic restaurants of our region.
So without further ado......I present you a series of what I divulged in this week. Now keep in mind that this was just this week and that each week my food choices will vary. Maybe I will do one next time I am home in Maine, highlighting all of my favorite things to make at home like my homemade cinnamon rolls or fresh potato gnocchi!
Bon Appétit,
Melanie
